Police Officer John William Goodloe, Jr. P613 (1949-2026)

John was born January 4, 1949 to John W. and Margaret Goodloe, Sr. He attended Withrow High School, graduating in 1967.

On February 6, 1968, John enlisted in the United States Army. He was first assigned for 10 months to Enlisted Men’s Records at Camp Panzer Kaserne in  Boblingen, Germany. While there, he also served as a member of the Geneal’s Honor Guard. Upon returning to the States, he spent 15 months as an Officers’ Records Clerk at Fort Riley, Kansas. Specialist 5 Goodloe was honorably discharged on November 5, 1970 with 2¾ years of service and a letter of commendation.

From 1975 to 1976, John attended Southern Ohio College, majoring in Business Management.

On March 2, 1980, John joined the Cincinnati Police Division in the 64th Recruit Class. He was promoted to Police Officer on September 14, 1980, issued Badge 613, and assigned to District 4 (4150 Reading Road). On November 1, 1981, Officer Goodloe transferred to District 2 (3295 Erie Avenue) where he would spend the rest of his career. By 1991, he was a Community Oriented Police Officer assigned to Evanston. In 1993, he was reassigned as a District 2 Investigative Unit Collator. By 1998 he was the district’s Domestic Violence Investigator where he excelled. In 2000, he was honored by Women Helping Women for his work with rape victims. Officer Goodloe retired September 16, 2001 with another 20¾ years of service and 22 letters of appreciation and/or commendation.

Officer Goodloe died September 2, 2026, at the age of 77.

Officer Goodloe is survived by his wife, Celeste Goodloe, and children, Courtney Monroe Goodloe and Jasmine Regina Goodloe, et al.
