In the white binder on top of case are additional photos, list of CPD female officers hired from 1945 to 1980’s. Also of interest are two forms which show reasons the dept felt women couldn’t do patrol work. They were written in 1974, and highlighted are some of the more interesting reasons.
In the case are two purses. The larger one was the first one, and weighed 25 lbs fully loaded. The second one was lighter.
Pat Whalen is shown in a uniform with a skirt. She was not on patrol. She was the first woman transferred from Youth Aid Section to Community Relations. She wanted people to know she was an officer when she gave presentations.
