This cabinet was used lift fingerprints off of paper. The note, check or other paper is hung in the cabinet, the ninhydrin material would be placed in a bowl in the bottom of the cabinet. The two lightbulbs would create enough heat to activate the ninhydrin into a gas which would then attach itself to the oil left from the fingerprint.
