Police Officer Leslie Blaine Mann, Jr.
(1945-2025)

 

Leslie was born April 1, 1945 to Leslie B. and Norma (Louden) Mann, Sr. He attended Norwood High School, graduating in June 1963.

Leslie joined the United States Army Reserves on June 17, 1963. He took combat training in 1963 and common specialist training in 1964. He served primarily in clerical functions until medically separated from active duty in December 1963 but remained in the Reserves.

In September 1964, he enrolled at the University of Cincinnati, majoring in Business Administration, and attended until June 1965.

Leslie joined the Cincinnati Police Division as a Police Cadet on February 14, 1966 having competed with 141 applicants and finished third. He was almost immediately promoted to Police Recruit and entered the 46th Recruit Class on March 27, 1966. He was promoted to Patrolman on July 5, 1966, issued Badge 691, and assigned to District 4 (7017 Vine Street). Little more than a year later, he was rotated to District 5 (1012 Ludlow). Patrolman Mann resigned on September 20, 1970.

He then joined the Greenhills Police Department on August 25, 1970 while still employed with Cincinnati. He resigned on December 15, 1972.

One day later, on December 16, 1972, Officer Mann joined the Wyoming Police Department. He resigned nine months later, on September 30, 1973. He was rehired on January 16, 1974. On June 30, 1979, Officer resigned, with 16 years of service to his country and three communities

Officer Mann later worked as a construction field superintendent in October 1979. By 1982, he was the Gidding-Jenny security chief. He finally retired from General Electric Security.

Officer Mann died March 7, 2025 at nearly 80 years old.

He is predeceased by his wife Susan L. (Coan) Mann. Officer Mann is survived by his children Dawn Mann (Sara), Caroline Cohn (Evan), and Shawn Smith (Pamela); stepchildren, Colleen Kearney and Bryan Coan; and grandchildren, Parker Cohn, Riley Smith, Liam Smit, Aidan Smith, Kendall Kearney, Murphy Kearney, and Quinn Kearney.

A visitation will be held 12 to 1 p.m. on March 21, 2025 at Spring Grove Funeral Homes, 4389 Spring Grove Avenue. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m.
