Telecommunicator Samantha Taryn Gabbard
(1987-2024)

 

 

Samantha was born about March 5, 1987 in Middletown to Harold and Jacqueline (Hawthorn) Gabbard. She graduated from Carlisle High School in 2006.

Samantha joined the Butler County Sheriff’s Office as a Public Safety Telecommunicator (Dispatcher) on December 3, 2018. By November 2024, she had served almost six years.

Dispatcher Gabbard died in her sleep on November 20, 2024.

She is survived by her fiancé of ten years, Tom Sawyer; children, Nash Sawyer and Justice Sawyer; parents; grandmother, Etta Hawthorn); and siblings, Austin Gabbard, Kaitlyn Deaton, and Haley Saylor.

A visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral home at 6850 Roosevelt Avenue in Middletown. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. Interment to follow at Woodside Cemetery.
