Specialist Marvin E. Scheidt
(1937-2024)

 

 

Marvin was born March 20, 1937 to Wilber and Marcella “Babe” (Webb) Scheidt. He attended Hughes High School where he participated all four years in many extracurricular activities and graduated in June 1955.

Immediately after high school, Marvin worked at the Clopay Corporation as a mail clerk until September 1956, then at the United States Post Office as a mail clerk.

Marvin joined the Cincinnati Police Division on November 17, 1958 in its 36th Recruit Class. On February 22, 1959, he was promoted to Patrolman, issued Badge 776, and assigned to District 2 (314 Broadway). One year later, he was rotated to District 1 (310 Lincoln Park Drive) and then to District 3 (3201 Warsaw Avenue) a year after that. On August 25, 1968, Patrolman Scheidt was promoted to Police Specialist, issued Badge PS-88, and reassigned to District 2. On February 7, 1971, Specialist Scheidt transferred to the Criminal Investigation Section (222 East Central Parkway). On January 6, 1974, he transferred back to District 3 in the Investigative Unit. There he served as a civilian clothed investigator, then as a Collator, until his retirement on January 1, 1991.

He returned to the Division on September 1, 1991 as a Police Technician and served as a civilian Collator in District 1. Police Technician Scheidt resigned February 12, 2005 with 46 years of service and 26 letters of appreciation and/or commendation, including two from police chiefs and one each from the City Manager and Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge.

Specialist Scheidt died peacefully in his sleep on September 6, 2024 at the of 87.

Visitation will be held 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at the new funeral home in Arlington Cemetery on Compton Road in Springfield Township. An FOP service will be held at 1:15 p.m.
