Police Officer Ronald Lee Reifsnider
(1940-2024)

 

 

Ron was born October 23, 1940 in Davenport, Iowa to Ralph Leroy and Virginia Maxine (Sepis) Reifsnider. Ralph worked for the United States Government and the family moved from state to state. Ron settled in Middletown and graduated from Middletown High School.

After high school, in the late 1950s, he joined the United States Army, from which he was honorably discharged.

 Ron then joined the Middletown Police Department as a Patrolman. During his career, he worked for a time as a motorcycle officer and as an undercover narcotics investigator. He was also a revolver sharpshooter. Officer Reifsnider retired on July 21, 1980.

Concurrent with his career, he was a member of the Blue Knights, a motorcycle club for law enforcement officers, and managed the Boomershine Meat Market in Germantown.

Upon retirement, Officer Reifsnider moved to Big Pine Key, Florida and trapped lobster. With a diagnosis of colon cancer, he moved back to Middletown. 

He then decided to go back to school. On July 15, 2000, he earned a bachelor’s degree in theology, and on July 11, 2003, a Ph. D in Theology.

Officer Reifsnider was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. He died on May 15, 2024 at the age of 83.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Shirley Reifsnider and Karen Lawson; grandson, Kyle Pearce, and stepson, Timothy Lawson. Officer Reifsnider is survived by his wife of 20 years, Mary Reifsnider; children, Matthew Paul (Usha) Reifsnider, David Philo Reifsnider, Vickie Jo Reifsnider, and Ronnea Lynette Reifsnider; grandchildren, Joe Trail, Brooke Trail, Kieron (Megan) Reifsnider, Tara (Joe) Casper, Brittany Dawn Trail, Kyle, Ronnie, Sunny, Jackson, and Lindsey; greatgrandchildren, Justin Casper, Brandon Dillon, Felix Reifsnider, Aubrey Cole, Brantley Cole, Myles Cole; brother, Neal (Loretta) Reifsnider; brother-in-law, Merle Lawson; stepson, James Lawson; step-grandchildren, Timothy Curtis Lawson, Jr., Jeremy Gray, and Jason Gray; and several step-greatgrandchildren

A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Anderson Funeral Home in Franklin.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
