Police Officer Paul Joseph Gosink P-377
(1941-2024)
Paul was born April 9, 1941 to Melvin Joseph and Ursula Gosink. He attended Oceanside High School in California and then graduated from Princeton High School in Sharonville.
From November 1957 to September 1958, he worked at Kroger’s in Sharonville.
Paul enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on November 4, 1958. His first duties were as an officer clerk, then regimental librarian. After nine months, he transferred to the Infantry and served as a squad leader in Guam, Okinawa, Japan, Philippines, Hong Kong, and Borneo. He was honorably discharged on September 23, 1961.
Upon returning home, he took an accounting position with Union Central Life Insurance downtown.
On June 4, 1972, Paul earned an Associate Degree in Science from the University of Cincinnati.
On January 14, 1963, Paul joined the Cincinnati Police Division in its 41st Recruit Class. He was promoted to Patrolman on April 22, 1963, issued Badge 377, and assigned to District 7 (813 Beecher Street). A year later, he was rotated to District 2 (314 Broadway). On July 3, 1966, he transferred back to District 7. On November 19, 1967, he was assigned to the prestigious Traffic Bureau. Patrolman Gosink also served in Detention Section, Police Communications, and District 4 (7017 Vine Street). In the mid-1980s, Officer Gosink worked as a Night Clerk at the Hamilton County Morgue. Officer Gosink retired April 11, 1989 with 29 years of service to his country and community and 29 letters of appreciation and/or commendation.
Officer Gosink died on November 28, 2024 at the age of 83.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann (Finkle) Gosink and children, Steven Joseph Gosink, Meisha Anne Gosink, Julie Marie Gosink, Stephanie Lee (Christopher) Weibel.
His remains will be cremated with no ceremonies as per his request.
