Jim was born March 9, 1951 to Wilton A. and Mildred (Long) DeRonde. He attended Hughes High School and graduated in 1970.
In 1970, he worked for Sohio as an attendant and Queen City Chevrolet as a parts driver.
Jim joined the Cincinnati Police Division on July 1, 1973 in its 59th Recruit Class. He was promoted to Patrolman on November 25, 1973, issued Badge 491, and assigned to District 4 (7017 Vine Street). On January 5, 1975, he was rotated to District 1 (310 Lincoln Park Drive). On July 10, 1983 he transferred to the Communications Section. Officer DeRonde returned to District 1 on January 22, 1984. On September 7, 1986, he transferred to District 3 (3201 Warsaw Avenue). Officer DeRonde left on April 25, 1989 with almost 16 years of service.
Officer DeRonde died suddenly on December 9, 2024 at the age of 73.
He was predeceased by his wife of 22 years, Vickie (Burgin) DeRonde (1995). He is survived by his son, Michael (Melissa) DeRonde; grandchildren, Luke DeRonde and Cameron DeRonde; and brother, Ronnie DeRonde.
A visitation will be held 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Dalbert, Woodruff, and Isenogle Funeral Home at 2880 Boudinot Avenue. Interment to follow at St. Joseph (New) Cemetery.
