Lieutenant Frank Louis Trainor
(1933-2024)
Frank was born October 19, 1933 to Earl Thomas Trainor, Sr., and Harriet Leah (Setters) Trainor.
In 1951, he joined the United States Army during the Korean War.
In 1956, Frank joined his brother, Police Chief Earl Thomas Trainor, as a Patrolman on the Woodlawn Police Department.
Seven years later, on June 13, 1963, Patrolman Trainor joined the Hamilton County Police Department as a Recruit in the county’s Police Academy. He graduated on August 30, 1963 and was promoted to Patrolman. Less than three months later, he competed in the Buckeye Sheriffs’ Association shooting competition and topped all shooters from the 22 southwestern Ohio counties. His brother finished third.
On May 29, 1969, Patrolman Trainor was named to the Woodlawn Life Squad, commanded by his brother, while still serving with the Sheriff’s Office.
On March 8, 1973, Patrolman Trainor was named to the Executive Board of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Patrol chapter of the Ohio Civil Service Commission. After a competitive examination, he was promoted to Sergeant on June 7, 1973. By 1986, he was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to Sycamore Township where he served until at least February 1987.
Lieutenant Trainor was admitted to Hospice of Blue Ash on December 23, 2024. He died, with his wife at his side, on December 24, 2024 at the age of 91.
He is predeceased by his brother, retired Woodlawn Police and Fire Chief Earl Thomas Trainor, Jr. Lieutenant Trainor is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lucy (Lajune) Trainor; six children; and four stepchildren.
A visitation will be held 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home – Loveland Chapel at 129 Riverside Drive in Loveland. A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m.
