Police Chief Timothy Dale “Tim” Green (1951-2023)

Tim was born May 29, 1951 in Covington to Robert and Celine (Neff) Greene.

Tim joined the United State Army during the Vietnam War.

 Upon returning home, Tim joined the Elsmere Police Department about 1979. He was promoted to Sergeant before September 1990, and to Lieutenant before January 1994. By August 1995, he had been appointed Elsmere Police Chief. After sixteen years as Chief and 32 years as an Elsmere officer, Chief Greene retired in May 2011.

A year later, he ran for and was elected to Elsmere City Council. He ran for mayor in 2014 but came up short.

He also served for a time as the President of the Erlanger Lions Club and a faithful member of the St. Augustine Parish in Covington.

Chief Green died peacefully on Friday, August 4, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospital at the age of 72.

He was predeceased by his brother, Kevin Green. Chief Green is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lonna J. (Mason) Greene; children, Kamm Greene and Jon Greene; siblings, Terry Greene and Colleen (Bob) Hahnel; stepchildren, Todd, Brad, and Krista; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Linnemann Funeral Home at 30 Commonwealth Avenue in Erlanger. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at St. Augustine Church at 1839 Euclid Avenue in Covington. Burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Fort Mitchell.

Memorial contribution may be made to St. Augustine Church.
