Lieutenant Terry Lee Watson
(1945-2023)

 

 Terry was born June 4, 1945 to James Leslie and Josephine Maria (Sanfillippo) Watson.

In 1965, Terry enlisted in the United States Army Reserve and served active duty during the Vietnam War until 1967. Specialist 4th Class Watson was honorably discharged on October 25, 1971.

Terry was self-employed from 1967 to 1970, then went to work as a manager in January 1970 at Joe Sanfillippo Amico service station on Glenway Avenue.

On March 3, 1980, Terry was appointed Corrections Officer by the Cincinnati Safety Department at the Cincinnati Correctional Institute. Corrections Officer Watson transferred to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office on August 15, 1981 as a Corrections Officer 2 and assigned to City Hall Detention. During 1983 he was assigned as Acting Supervisor due to the illness of his immediate superior. He was transferred to the Criminal Justice Center in 1985 where he excelled in every task to which he was assigned. Correction Officer 2 Watson resigned on December 12, 1988.

He then joined the North Bend Police Department as a Police Officer, was promoted through the ranks to Lieutenant, and served until the Department was dissolved in January 1994. By then, he had 20 years of service to the country, county, and two communities and a few letters of appreciation and/or commendation.

Lieutenant Watson died October 16, 2023 in Batavia at the age of 78.

He is survived by five children.
