Lieutenant James R. “Jimmy” Rees
(1956-2023)

 

Jim was born February 14, 1956, in Corbin, Kentucky to Joy and Myrtle (Setser) Rees. He attended Dayton (Kentucky) High School.

Jim joined the Bellevue Police Department as a Police Officer in 1984. He was promoted up the ranks to Lieutenant. During his tenure he started a volunteer program and also served as their firearms instructor. Lieutenant Rees retired in 2005 with 21 years of service.

Lieutenant Rees was also a licensed pilot and served on  the Gene Snyder Airport Board in Falmouth.

Lieutenant Rees died December 24, 2023 at the age of 67.

He is predeceased by his parents and a brother, Terry Rees. Lieutenant Rees is survived by his daughter, Maria (Jason) Turner; stepchildren, Mary Beth (Shawn) Childers and Dr. Thomas W. (Jamie) Francis, Jr.; three grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and siblings, Deanie Rees, Jerry Rees, and Mike Rees

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the Cooper Funeral Home in Alexandria. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m.
