Detective Gregory Charles Kerby (1955-2023)

Greg was born January 21, 1955, in Hamilton, Ohio to Charles and Doris (Winters) Kerby. He graduated from Talawanda High School in 1973.

Greg joined the McAlester, Oklahoma Sheriff’s Office as a Corrections Officer.

 He then moved back to Ohio and joined the Butler County Sheriff’s Office on August 1, 1978 as a Corrections Officer. He was later appointed as a Patrol Officer, then Detective. Detective Kerby retired on June 9, 1999 with 21 years of service.

Detective Kerby died on September 11, 2023 at Hospice of Hamilton at the age of 68.

He was predeceased by his sister, Tammy Welling. Detective Kerby is survived by his wife, Mona Kerby; children, Chavis (Kelly) Kerby, Alisha (Josh) Singleton; grandchildren, Casey, Ember, Sloane, Bree, and River; and brother, Tim (Tonya) Kerby.

Visitation and funeral service were held on September 15, 2023 at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home in Hamiton.

Memorials may be made in his honor to the Reily Township Fire and EMS, 6376 Peoria Reily Road, Oxford, OH 45056.
