Corrections Officer Michael Lee Crowe
(1946-2023)

 

 Mike was born June 12, 1946 in Cincinnati to Tennesseans Felix Lee and Marie Mattie (Maynard) Crowe. He attended Aiden High School and graduated in 1965.

Mike joined the City of Cincinnati in the Department of Engineering on December 19, 1965 as a Tracer.

The United States Army drafted him to serve in the Vietnam War on April 11, 1966. He served in the Artillery and one year in Vietnam. Corporal Crowe was honorably discharged in April 1968.

He returned the City of Cincinnati on May 12, 1968 as a Draftsman. 

Mike transferred on May 11, 1970 to the Cincinnati Workhouse as a Guard. He was promoted to Sergeant of Corrections in 1973 and assigned to Central Station in City Hall. Sergeant Crowe resigned on April 11, 1981. 

From March 1981 to January 1984 he worked assisting the pro at Miami View Golf Course. From October to December 1984, he worked in construction for Roundtree Construction. 

Mike returned to corrections as a Corrections Officer II with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office on  December 27, 1984. Officer Crowe retired with a medical disability on August 1, 2002 with 33 years of service to his country, county, and city and several letters of appreciation and/or commendation.

Officer Crowe died on November 20, 2023 in New Port Richey, Florida at the age of 77.

Officer Crowe is survived by his wife Barbara Crowe; stepdaughters, Rachel E. Frey, Emily (Chis) Earls, Sarah (Kyle) Berger and their children, Ryan Earls and Melody Earls.

A funeral will be held at a later date at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
