Brown, John
Sheriff appointed by Gen. Arthur St. Clair, as well as other court officers.
28-Dec
Losantaville settled — 3rd landing for the permanent settlement — 740 acres, bounded by what is now Central Avenue, Liberty Street, and Broadway.

Population – Settlement – 11 families with 24 unmarried men.

Dougherty, Major, US Army
140 men arrived from Fort Harmar and built 4 block houses between Broadway and Lawrence on Third Street. Began construction on Fort Washington.

Soldiers moved into Fort Washington.

St. Clair, General Arthur, Governor
Hamilton County created by proclamation issued by governor of the Northwest Territory. Named for Alexander Hamilton, then Secretary of Treasury. Originally 1/8 of State, but 10 other counties formed.
