Sergeant Robert William “Bob” Lierman S-13
(1944-2025)

 

 

Bob was born on September 22, 1944 in Cincinnati to Robert C. and Verna (Nintrup) Lierman. He attended Central High School where, among other extracurricular activities, he served on the Student Council and in the band. He graduated in 1964.

On July 18, 1964, Bob married Dorothy Ann Dickhaus.

Bob joined the Cincinnati Police Division on September 25, 1966 in its 47th Recruit Class. He was promoted to Patrolman on December 27, 1966, issued Badge 411, and assigned to District 5 (1012 Ludlow Avenue). A year later he was rotated to District 1 (310 Lincoln Park Drive). With only 1½ years as an officer, he was assigned to the Traffic Bureau. He transferred again on January 2, 1972 to the new Alcohol Safety Action Program (ASAP). On November 25, 1973, Patrolman Lierman was assigned to the Community Relations Bureau. On February 19, 1974, radio station WLQA-FM engaged him in a weekly show called “Signal 35” as moderator and coproducer to weekly discuss various law enforcement topics. He transferred to District 7 (813 Beecher Street) on February 16, 1975. He was promoted to Sergeant on June 22, 1975, issued Badge S-13, and assigned to Training Section. On August 24, 1975 he was reassigned to District 1. In 1979, Sergeant Lierman completed a three-week Emergency Medical Technician course at the Cincinnati Fire College. On March 2, 1980, he transferred to the Internal Investigation Section. Sergeant Lierman transferred back to the Traffic Section on December 27, 1981. On August 30, 1987, he transferred to his final assignment, the Mounted Patrol, which he helped re-establish after a sixty-year hiatus. Sergeant Lierman retired on October 7, 1991 with 25 years of service and 42 letters of appreciation and/or commendation.

Sergeant Lierman additionally, from August 14, 1990, worked part time for the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office. He continued to do so until August 1, 1997, for continuous service to his community and county of almost 31 years.

Sergeant Lierman died on June 23, 2025 at the age of 80.

He is predeceased by his siblings, Greg Lierman and Pam Brock. Sergeant Lierman is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Ann (Dickhaus) Lierman; children, Green Township Police Officer Jeffrey (Mary Rose) Lierman and Christopher (Molly) Lierman; grandchildren, grandchildren, Hannah, Michael, Sarah, Alexander, and Julia; and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Andrew, Levi, and Molly Grace.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Dalbert, Woodruff, and Isenogle Funeral Home at 2880 Boudinot Avenue. Funeral Service will be at 1300 hours. Inurnment immediately following at New St. Joseph Cemetery at 4500 Foley Road.
