Specialist Terry Cox
(1960-2026)

 

Terry was born April 22, 1960. He graduated from Western Hills High School in 1978.

Terry joined the North Bend Police Department as a Police Officer in August 1982 and served almost five years.

Officer Cox joined the Cincinnati Police Division in its 69th Recruit Class on July 5, 1987. He was promoted to Police Officer on November 22, 1987, issued Badge 47, and was assigned to District 3 (3201 Warsaw Avenue). On February 12, 1989, Officer Cox was rotated to District 4 (4150 Reading Road). He returned to District 3 seven months later. On May 21, 1995, he was promoted to Police Specialist and issued Badge PS-243. Specialist Cox transferred to the Fraud Squad at the Criminal Investigation Section (824 Broadway) on June 11, 2000. He also served in the District 3 Investigative Unit, Violent Crimes Squad, and Neighborhood Liaison Unit, District 1 (310 Ezzard Charles Drive) Mounted Squad, Impound Lot, and District 2 (3295 Erie Avenue). Specialist Cox retired on February 16, 2014 with 31½ years of law enforcement service and an outstanding 59 letters of appreciation and/or commendation.

Specialist Cox died after a short bout of cancer on August 1, 2026, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He was 66.

He was predeceased by his wife. Specialist Cox is survived by his children, grandchildren and uncle, retired Cincinnati Police Officer Glenn Cox.

At his request, there will be no funeral. There may be a gathering in the future to be announced.
