Sergeant Gregory David Lewton S-124
(1955-2026)

Greg was born June 5, 1955 in Cincinnati to Mr. and Mrs. John C. Lewton. He attended Fairfield High School and graduated in June 1973.
On June 10, 1976, five days following his 21st birthday, Greg joined the Glendale Police Department as a Police Officer. In 1983, he was promoted to Lieutenant and then in August 1986, he was appointed Police Chief. Chief Lewton resigned on June 9, 1991, one day short of 15 years of service, almost five of which were as Police Chief.
On June 7, 1992, two days following his 37th birthday, Chief Lewton joined the Cincinnati Police Department in its 76th Recruit Class. He was promoted to Police Officer a few months later and issued Badge 286. By 1999, he was promoted to Sergeant and issued Badge S-124 and assigned to District 2, 3295 Erie Avenue. Sergeant Lewton spent the preponderance of his supervisory career in District One Special Operation and the Central Business District. He retired in 2020 with a total of 23 years of service to two communities.
Sergeant Lewton died on August 20, 2026 at the age of 71.
He is survived by his former wife of 45 years, Jennifer Lauren (Robertson) Lewton, and children Farrah Marie, Gregory Branddon, Nicholas Gregory, and Jennifer Lauren.
