Police Officer William “Bill” Baker P-23
(1952-2026)

 

 

Bill was born on January 20, 1952. He attended Western Hill High School and graduated in 1970.

Bill joined the Cincinnati Police Division as a Police Cadet on August 29, 1971. Cadet Baker served in Communications Section, Records Section, and Criminalistics Section. On September 8, 1974 he was promoted to Police Recruit and joined Cincinnati’s 60th Recruit Class. He was promoted to Police Officer on February 2, 1975, issued Badge 23, and assigned to District 5 (1012 Ludlow Avenue). A year later, he was rotated to District 3 (3201 Warsaw Avenue). Due to fiscal mismanagement at City Hall. Officer Baker and 123 other officers were laid off on December 6, 1976. He was recalled on September 8, 1977 and reassigned to District 3. Officer Baker also served a brief time at the Impound Lot. Officer Baker retired on January 22, 2000 with 28 years of service and 40 letters of appreciation and/or commendation.

Officer baker died on August 9, 2026 at the age of 74.

Officer Baker is survived by his children, Joshua and Julia.
