Police Officer John Thomas French
(1999-2026)

John was born December 8, 1999 in Ohio to Trent Chandler and Cheyenne Dawn (Malta) French. His mother died when he was 12 and his father when he was 20. He was partially raised by his oldest sister, Samantha.
From a young age, he was a member of the Civil Air Patrol before becoming an Air Cadet. On December 19, 2023, John was appointed as a Firefighter/Paramedic in the Liberty Township Fire Department.
John joined the Ohio National Guard and became a Combat Medic. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
John took a competitive examination for Police Officer for the City of Fairfield and on June 12, 2025 was listed as having finished in the top ten. John Joined the Fairfield Police Department on September 15, 2025. He attended the Butler Technical College Peace Officer Training Academy and certified as a Police Officer on March 4, 1926. By July 2026, Officer French had dedicated a third of his life to the service of others.
Officer French died suddenly on July 30, 2026 at the age of 26.
Officer French is survived by his siblings, Samantha (Jason) Sambi, Savannah (Zach) Seagle; and Joseph French.
A funeral service was held at the West Chester Presbyterian Church in West Chester. Burial followed at Maineville Cemetery in Maineville.
