Officer David Bruce Lundy
(1948-2026)

 

 

Dave was born on January 22, 1948 to Glen Alan and Helen Ruth (Carden) Lundy. He attended Tallmadge High School in Tallmadge, Ohio where he participated in golf and baseball and graduated in 1966. He attended the University of Cincinnati on a golf scholarship and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1972. Dave continued to play golf in amateur tournaments years later, including medaling in Police Olympic competitions in the 1980s.

From January to December 1972, Dave worked as a Security Guard for Active Security Guards and Wackenhut Security. In October 1972.

Dave joined the City of Cincinnati as a Guard at the Workhouse on December 4, 1972 and resigned June 30, 1973.

On July 1, 1973, Daved joined the Cincinnati Police Division in its 59th Recruit Class. He was promoted to Patrolman on November 25, 1973, issued Badge 128, and assigned to District 5 (1012 Ludlow Avenue). On January 25, 1975 he was rotated to District 2 (3295 Erie Avenue) and spend the rest of his career there. Officer Lundy retired on February 7, 1998, with 25 years of service and 23 letters of appreciation and/or commendation, including three from Cincinnati Police Chiefs.

Officer Lundy then joined Corporate Security at American Financial Group on September 25, 1999 and retired again after 15 years on June 22, 2014.

In February 2026, Officer Lundy  was experiencing pain in his leg and back. On February 28, 2026 he went to an emergency room where he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Bone Cancer. He was admitted into hospice and died peacefully on March 11, 2026 at the age of 78.

He was predeceased by his mother, Helen Ruth Lundy in 2018 at the age of 90. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jill E. (Flanagan) Lundy; children, Amy (Doug) Kleiner and Adam (Sandy Thompson) Howard; grandchildren, Nick Howard and Ali Kleiner; 99-year-old father, Glen Alan Lundy; and brothers, Briam (Vaunda) and Jeff Lundy.

A memorial visitation will be held Friday, March 20, 2026, from 1 to 3 p.m. at T.P. White & Sons Funeral Home. A Queen City Lodge No. 69 Fraternal Order of Police service will begin at 3 p.m.
