Lieutenant Robert John Hungler L050

Bob was born January 23, 1943 to Ralph F. and Mary Ann (Wuebbling) Hungler.
Bob joined the Cincinnati Police Division in its 49th Recruit Class on November 19, 1967. He was promoted to Patrolman on February 25, 1968, issued Badge 550, and assigned to District 2 (314 Broadway). In November 1970, after District 2 merged into District 1 (310 Lincoln Park Drive, Patrolman Hungler volunteered for the new Scooter Patrol. After finishing 6th in a promotional examination for Police Specialist, he was promoted on June 15, 1972 and issued Badge PS-94.
Later in the year, he finished 5th in another promotional exam for Sergeant and was promoted on November 3, 1972, issued Badge S-121 and assigned to District 7, 813 Beecher Street. Sergeant Hungler was rotated back to District 1 and later transferred to District 5 (1012 Ludlow Avenue). He was promoted to Lieutenant in the early 1980s. Soon after, he returned to 314 Broadway as the Traffic Section Commander where he spent the preponderance of her career. Lieutenant Hungler retired on January 8, 2011 with 43 years of service.
Lieutenant Hungler died on October 9, 2026 at the age of 83.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, retired Cincinnati Police Officer Monica Gaynor, daughter of former Cincinnati Police Sergeant Earl W. Gaynor, and daughters, Tammi Lynn and Denise.
