Police Officer Janet Lynn Green P-169
(1956-2026)

 

 


 

Janet was born on February 24, 1956 to Lawrence W. “Red” and Mary (Atyeo) White. She attended Princeton High School and graduated in 1974.

On September 15, 1991, Janet joined the Cincinnati Police Division in its 75th Recruit Class. On February 2, 1992 she was promoted to Police Officer, issued Badge 169, and assigned to District 2 (3295 Erie Avenue). On November 14, 1993, she was rotated to District 5 (1012 Ludlow Avenue). Officer Green transferred to District 3 (3201 Warsaw Avenue) on March 12, 2006. Her relief commander found her to be a quiet, consistent performer needing almost no supervision. After 20 years, on May 12, 2012, Officer Green resigned.

She moved to Simi Valley, California and served in the Simi Valley Police Department as a Records Technician.

On April 28, 2013, Officer Green returned to Cincinnati, the Police Department, and District 3. Throughout her tenure she was involved in martial arts training. She was also a member of the Mental Health Response Team (MHRT). Officer Green retired on March 17, 2021 with 29½ years of service to two communities and 12 letters of appreciation and/or commendation, including two from police chiefs, a safety director, and Congressman Steven Chabot.

Officer Green died on March 16, 2026 at the age of 70.

She is predeceased by her brother, Lawrence E. White. Officer Green is survived by her children, Amy Elizabeth (Cincinnati Police Officer John) Leindecker, David Lawrence Green, and Mandy Lynn Howard; six grandchildren, including Cincinnati Police District Three Officer Christopher J. Leindecker and Cincinnati Police District Two Officer Isaiah S. Howard; and a great-grandchild.
