Police Officer Kevin Schroeder J. PO-346
(1957-2025)

Kevin was born on December 7, 1957 to Ray J. and Daryl R. (Heim) Schroder. He attended Holy Cross Grade School in Mt. Adams and graduated from Purcell High School in 1975.
Kevin joined the Cincinnati Police Division on March 2, 1980 in the 64th Recruit Class. He was promoted to Police Officer on September 14, 1980, issued Badge 346, and assigned to District 1 (310 Lincoln Park Drive) where he excelled in traffic safety. During Police Week Ceremonies in 1983 he received the award for Traffic Enforcement. On April 12, 1987, Officer Schroeder transferred to the Traffic Section where he received outstanding performance evaluations. In 1989, Officer Schroeder left the Division after nine years of service and 50 letters of appreciation and/or commendation, including eight from Police Chiefs.
Officer Schroeder required a kidney transplant in 2025. He later fell in his home and was taken to the hospital, then placed in hospice care by December 2025. He died peacefully, surrounded by family, at Hospice of Cincinnati in Anderson, about 11:30 a.m. on December 8, 2025, the day following his 68th birthday.
Officer Schroeder is survived by his wife of 44 years, Debbie Schroeder; daughters, Kellyn (Luke) Schroeder and Katharyn (Eric) Schroeder; proud Poppy to Kai Haight; sister, Maureen Elfers; brother-in-law, Bob (Debbie); sister-in-law, Kathy, three nephews: Rob, Jeff and Brian; three nieces: Pam, Tina and Becca. He was predeceased by his brother, Gary Schroeder.
A memorial gathering will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at E.C. Nurre Funeral Homes at 177 W. Main Street in Amelia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at St. Rose Catholic Church at 2501 Riverside Drive in Cincinnati. A private inurnment will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery later date.
Memorials may be made to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
