Corrections Officer Jose Luis “Joe” Gutierrez, Jr. 156
(1980-2025)

 

 

Joe was born on October 1, 1980 in Cincinnati to Jose Luis and Pamela Sue Guteirrez, Sr. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Raymond Troescher and graduated from Colerain High School.

Joe joined the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office on August 1, 2002. Officer Gutierrez served as the union representative for his peers with an “outstanding knowledge of general orders and policy.” He was assessed by his supervisor to have “amazing IPC skills” when dealing with some of the most difficult prisoners. After numerous medical issues, Officer Gutierrez resigned on April 1, 2023 with 20 years of service and several Division and Citizen Commendations.

He  joined Englewood Towing as a heavy tow truck recovery driver.

Joe was also an active member of the Iron Shields, Ohio chapter.

Less than 2½ years after leaving the Sheriff’s Office, Joe died peacefully on September 14, 2025 at the age of 44.

He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Hall III. Deputy Gutierrez is survived by his wife of 24 years, Diane (Coy) Gutierrez; children, Joseph Gutierrez III, Cheyenne Gutierrez, and Myriah Kissel; siblings, Maria Gutierrez, Charity Gutierrez, Phillip (Janice) Hall , Christian Hall, and Luis Angel Gutierrez; and sister-in-law, Stephanie Hall.

A funeral service was held on October 25, 2025 at the Union Township Civic Center a. A Celebration of Life immediately followed at the American Legion Post 72 on Old St Rt 74.
