Deputy David Walter Broz
(1956-2025)

 

 

Dave, or “Broz” as he was most well-known, was born on March 19, 1956 in Cincinnati to Stanley Joseph and Gladys Edith Broz. He attended schools in the Oak Hills School District and graduated in 1975.

Immediately after graduation, on June 8, 1975, Broz joined the United States Army and served as a nuclear weapons specialist, mostly in Germany. Specialist E-4 Broz was honorably discharged on June 8, 1979.

From July 1979 to September1980, Broz held security positions at Pinkerton Security Company, Good Samaritan Hospital, and Xavier University.

On December 7, 1980, Broz joined the Cincinnati Corrections Institute as a Guard. He transitioned to the Hamilton County Deputy Sheriff’s Office on August 15, 1981 as a Corrections Officer.

On November 19, 1993, Officer Broz resigned and took a position at the Lebanon Corrections Institute, from which he retired.

He then worked as a Corporate Security Officer at the Cincinnati Financial Corporation headquarters in Fairfield.

He was predeceased by his wife, Diane Sue (Nickley) Broz, and brothers, Ricky Frondorf and Jimmy Broz. Deputy Broz was survived by wife of 12 years, Cherie E Broz; children, Megan Margaret (Kenny) Cress, Heather Laycock, and Jason Ott; grandchildren, Shelby Cress, Katie (Matthew) Cabral, Jacob (Jaime) Laycock, Alexis Ott, and Taylor Ott; great-granddaugther Rory Morgan Cabral; siblings, Paul (Rose) Broz, Linda (Bruce) Redrow, Cheryl (Don) Paul, and Kim (George) Huber, and Sharon Frondorf.

Deputy Broz was also an active member, family group leader, and deacon at Bethany Baptist Church in Liberty Township.

Deputy Broz died peacefully on November 21, 2025.

Visitation will be held at Bethany Baptist Church, 6049 Yankee Road in Liberty Township on Sunday, November 30, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. Visitation will be held again the following morning at church, Monday, December 1, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12 p.m. Burial to follow at Springhill Cemetery on Princeton Road in Liberty Township.
