Detective Gregory Carl Miller
(1957-2025)

Greg was born on November 24, 1957 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Paris Dwenger and Sally Dixon. He was raised by Walter Carl and Geraldine Rebecca (Black) Miller. He attended Westwood Elementary School, Gamble Middle School, and Western Hills High School, graduating on June 1, 1976. He also attended the University of Cincinnati, earning an associate of science degree in business on June 11, 1978, and Cincinnati Technical College.
Greg joined the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office on August 12, 1981 as a Corrections Officer 2 in the Cincinnati Correctional Institute (formerly Cincinnati Workhouse). He was promoted to Patrol Officer I on November 29, 1984 and assigned to District 1, Squad 1. On August 1, 1989, he was promoted to Patrol Corporal and assigned to District 1, Squad 2. Corporal Miller transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division (later Section) in September 1990. During May 2003, Detective Miller received the award for Police work with Children at the annual Police Memorial banquet. Deputy Miller retired on September 30, 2011 with numerous letters of appreciation and commendation, including dozens of division-level commendations. Thereafter he was appointed a Special Deputy. Deputy Miller resigned in 2022 with 41 years of service.
He was also a member of St. Teresa of Avila Church and a 32nd Degree Mason.
Detective Miller died at his residence on August 28, 2025 at the age of 67.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Timothy Dwenger, Paris “Joe” Dwenger, and Robin Bracken, and brother-in-law Tim Craig. Detective Miller is survived by his wife of 41 years, Cynthia M. “Cindy” (Merschbach) Miller; children, Kyle Miller and Courtney Miller; father, Paris Dwenger; siblings Candis (Terry) Musser, Melvin (Chelsa) Dwenger, Tammy (John) Fledderman, Casey (Joanna) Schutte, Trisha (Daniel) Egleson, Jodi (Josh) Smith, Annette (Andy) Harman, Vicki Wohl, George Wohl, Ron (Melissa) Bracken, David (Deanna) Wohl, and Julisue Craig; and brother-in-law, retired Hamilton County Sheriff’s Captain Richard (Peggy) Merschbach.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road in Springfield Township. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. with burial to follow in Arlington Memorial Gardens.
