Badge Chain & Whistle

In the late 1800’s business such as Procter and Gamble, department stores and other large wholesale and retail organization all had private police working for them.  Their police commission was the same as Cincinnati Police except they could not do traffic. They wore the same type of uniforms, and their badges were the same style, so from a distance you could not distinguish one from the other. The only difference was the chain that ran from the badge to the whistle, which was placed between the buttons of the uniform jacket.
