Police Officer Thomas Glenn Gregg P-325
(1942-2026)

Tom was born on August 11, 1942 to George and Grace (Wormus) Gregg. He attended Hughes High School, graduating in June 1960.

From April 1960 for seven years, he worked for the Mason and Dixon Lines ascending to the position of supervisor of drivers and the dock area.

In January 1963, Tom enlisted in the United States Army Reserve. He was assigned to a clerical school, and his six months of active duty were spent as a clerk at Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina.

Tom joined the Cincinnati Police Division on May 4, 1967 in its 48th Recruit Class. Recruit Gregg was promoted to Patrolman on August 16, 1967, issued Badge 325, and assigned to District 3 (3201 Warsaw Avenue). Patrolman Gregg transferred to District 4 (7017 Vine Street) on March 7, 1971. On June 29, 1971, he was spotlighted as one of several Cincinnati patrolmen assaulted during the previous weekend in the performance of their duty. On January 5, 1975, he transferred to District 1 (310 Lincoln Park Drive). In June 1978, he was assigned with another officer to patrol Fountain Square and the Skywalk on foot. In June 1980, Officer Gregg was the first to volunteer to be assigned to the first bicycle patrol since the early 20th Century. In January 1985, he transferred to Community Assistance Section. He also served in District 5 (1012 Ludlow Avenue) and twice more in District 1. His performance evaluations continually speak to his people skills and dealing with the public whether it was walking a beat around Hughes High School or Fountain Square, assigned to patrol duties, or as a consummate Deskman. His 35 letters of appreciation and/or commendation also reflect the same demeanor. Officer Gregg retired on January 4, 1992 with 29 years of service to his country and community.

Officer Gregg died peacefully in his sleep from end stage heart failure, surrounded by family, on May 12, 2026 at the age of 83.

He was predeceased about a week before by a son-in-law, Andrew Millar. Officer Gregg is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Pamela M. (Welling) Gregg; daughters Laurie (Wayne) Wallace and Amy Gregg; granddaughter, Marley (Mark) Tenenholtz; and siblings, Jean, Susie, Charles, and Georgie.

Officer Gregg’s remains were cremated, and his ashes will be spread at various locations. Family and friends will celebrate his life privately on a date in the near future.
