Reserve Officer Nicholas Dewayne Thomas
(1984-2025)

 

 

Nick was born on September 13, 1984 in Lawrenceburg to Ronald and Beverly Jean (Green) Thomas. He graduated from Lawrenceburg High School in June 2003. Nick was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

Nick worked for years in the Lawrenceburg Police Department as a Reserve Officer.

His fulltime job was General Manager for Mike’s Car Wash.

Officer Thomas died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, in Lawrenceburg on July 15, 2025 at the age of 40.

He was predeceased by his mother, Beverly Jean (Green) Thomas, and father-in-law, Alan Sackrider. Officer Thomas is survived by his wife of almost 15 years, Christen E. (Rich) Thomas; daughter, Ava Thomas; father, Ronald Thomas; brothers, Ryan Thomas and Nate Thomas; mother-in-law, Salena Sackrider; father-in-law, Greg Rich; and sister-in-law, Sarah Rich.

In the 24 hours following the announcement of his death on Facebook more than 1,750 people reacted and almost 250 posted comments regarding his congeniality, humor, and pleasure with which to work or be associated.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Union Valley Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Sheldon Rox. Interment will take place at Greendale Cemetery in Greendale.
