Police Officer Terry A. Trost
(1960-2025)

Terry was born on March 15, 1960 to Donald and Phyllis (Makin) Trost. He attended Sycamore High School.
Terry served as a firefighter until November 15, 1982, when he joined the Xavier University Police Department. He attended the Great Oaks Police Academy from January to May 1983. On December 1, 1983, he also joined the Miami Township (Clermont County) Police Department as a part-time Police Officer. On November 21, 1990, he and others ran into a burning building and rescued members of a family, for which he was awarded a Fire Service Valor Award from the Hamilton County Fire Chiefs Association in 1991. In 1998, he was nominated for the 15th annual Clermont County Police Appreciation “Top Cop” Award. He also received a Clermont County Distinguished Service Award and the township’s Meritorious and Safe Driving Awards. Officer Trost left the Xavier University Police Department on February 20, 2002. He retired from Miami Township on September 1, 2009, with 28 years of service as a firefighter, patrol officer, motorcycle officer, field training officer, and detective.
After retiring, he operated a funeral escort service.
Officer Trost was diagnosed with ALS. After a long battle, he died peacefully on July 15, 2025.
He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Liz Trost. Officer Trost is survived by his wife of 14 years, Rosa (Ranieri) Trost; siblings, retired University of Cincinnati Police Lieutenant Ralph “Lee” (Trina) Trost, Tommy Trost, and Lisa (Glen) Davis; and stepdaughter, Erika Krekeler.
A visitation and funeral service were held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Interment followed at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
