Sergeant David G. Stemmerding

Dave was born March 24, 1946 to Raymond L. and Ellen Stemmerding Jr.  He attended Central Vocational High School, graduating in 1965.

After high school, he worked as a printer.

On November 19, 1973, Dave joined the Cincinnati Workhouse as a Guard.  For a time, he was assigned as a Wagon Driver.  During 1978, after the facility’s name changed to Cincinnati Corrections Institute, his duties brought him to the Alms and Doepke Building during court sessions.  He also worked at Central Station, the City’s jail in the basement of City Hall.  He retired as a Corrections Sergeant.

During 1987 he directed a new Youth Ministry at St. Margaret of Cortona in Madisonville.

During mid-August 2019, Sergeant Stemmerding was hospitalized for a medical issue and found that he had another life-threatening issue.  He died August 30, 2019 at the age of 73.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Kari Marie Stemmerding (1983).  Sergeant Stemmerding is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cincinnati Police CT3 Sally A. (Huxell) Stemmerding; children, Mark Stemmerding, Kasey (Daniel) Rodriquez, and Hamilton County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael (Nikki) Stemmerding; and grandchildren, Tabitha Koch, Will Stemmerding, Jayme Rodriquez, Jordan Rodriquez, Jaydah Rodriquez, Aiden Stemmerding, Riley Stemmerding, and Ava Stemmerding.

Visitation will be held 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church at 7820 Beechmont Avenue.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.  Following mass, interment will take place at Graceland Memorial Gardens in Milford, OH..
