Police Officer Robert George Zucker P525 (1943-2018)

Bob was born November 6, 1943 in Cincinnati to Wilbur R. “Webb” and Mary F (Hahn) Zucker.  He attended Hughes High School, graduated in 1962, and attended the University of Cincinnati, majoring in Police Science.

After high school, he went into the lithography business, working for Nielson Lithography, Cincinnati Lithography, and U.S. Playing Card.

Bob joined the Cincinnati Police Division as a Police Cadet on March 9, 1964 and was assigned to Traffic Section.  He transferred to Central Station (City Hall) in 1964 and Records Section in 1965.  On March 22, 1965 he was promoted to Police Recruit.  On June 28, 1965 he was promoted to Police Officer, issued Badge 525, and assigned to District 4 (7017 Vine Street).  On July 3, 1966 he was rotated to District 1 (310 Lincoln Park Drive).  Throughout his career, he was an excellent pistol shot, one of very few officers to shoot a perfect score in Hamilton County interagency pistol matches.  Even in his last years, he received outstanding performance evaluations.  Thirty-two years later, Officer Zucker retired on April 4, 1998 with 29 letters of appreciation and/or commendation, including five from Cincinnati Police Chiefs and one from a Cheviot Police Chief.  He rejoined the Cincinnati Police Division March 5, 2000 as an Operator/Dispatcher at Police Communications where his wife Elena also worked.  Three months after she retired, he resigned March 8, 2008 with 42 years of service to his community.

Officer Zucker passed away September 11, 2018 at the age 74¾.

His survivors include his wife, Emergency Services Dispatch Supervisor Elena M. Zucker (Retired) and sons, Cincinnati Police Officers Dennis M. Zucker and Jeffrey M. Zucker.

Visitation will be held 10 to 11:15 a.m. on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Rosenacker Funeral Home on Cheviot Avenue.  FOP services will be held at 11:15 a.m. and a memorial service will follow.
