Patrolman / Deputy Homer “Bud” Fink Jr.


Bud was born June 10, 1938. in Wellston, Ohio to Homer and Gladys (Wilbur) Fink, Sr.  He attended Hamilton High School and graduated in 1956.

On February 8, 1962 he joined the City of Fairfield Police Department as a Patrolman.  By 1969, he was a member of a three-man traffic squad. Later he worked as a plainclothes investigator.  By 1980, he was promoted to Sergeant.  Patrolman Fink “retired” April 14, 1989 and was honored by the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce as one of Fairfield’s most dedicated and popular officers.

On July 5, 1989, Sheriff Richard Holzberger appointed him a Deputy Sheriff for the Butler County Sheriff’s Office and serves until June 1994.  On April 10, 2001 he was commissioned as a Special Deputy/Bailiff and continued to November 18, 2002.

Deputy Fink was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church.

Deputy Fink passed away on September 30, 2019 at the age of 81.

He was predeceased by his son, James A. Fink (2012), and five siblings, Jane, Gretchen, Ethel, Teeney, and Bill.  He is survived by his wife of over 38 years Elsie (Buckler) Fink; children, Chuck (Renee) Fink, Delores Fink, John (Robin) Fink, Leslie (Scott) Fredricks, and Laurie (Tom) Gerhardt; fifteen grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.

Visitation was on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at the Webster Funeral Home in Fairfield.  A funeral service was held on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Mentor Baptist Church at 3724 Smith Road in California, Kentucky with Pastor Barry Wilson officiating.  Burial followed at Grand View Cemetery in Kentucky.
