Operator Dispatcher Frances Robin (Brown) Pope (1953-2018)

Robyn was born January 8, 1953 to Donald Robert and Catherine T. (Baker) Brown.  She attended Marian High School, graduating in 1971.  She then attended the University of Cincinnati, earning an Associate of Arts degree in Law Enforcement Technology.

While attending school, she worked at Famous Recipe on Paxton Road, Zayre Department Stores on Paxton, and as an EKG Technician at Bethesda Hospital on Oak Street.

Robyn joined the Cincinnati Police Division as a provisional Assistant Operator Dispatcher on June 22, 1975.  Her position was made permanent five years later.  On May 13, 1984 she was promoted to Operator Dispatcher.  She was an excellent worker.  During 1986, she trained co-workers in the new computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system and wrote numerous standard operating procedures.  During 1987 she assisted in planning the layout at Communication for inclusion of Fire Dispatch.  Then, in 1988, she trained co-workers on the new dispatch consoles.  She resigned on October 20, 1990 with more than 15 years of service to Cincinnati’s safety services with an unbroken string of superior performance evaluations.

Dispatcher Pope suffered several maladies, the worst of which were kidney and heart failure which put her in Hospice of Cincinnati (Anderson Township) on Monday, November 12th.  She passed away, surrounded by family, at 8:45 a.m. on November 15, 2018.  She was 65.

She is predeceased by her father, Cincinnati Police Specialist Donald Brown; father-in-law, Cincinnati Police Lieutenant Robert L. Pope, Sr.; and brother-in-law, Police Officer Daniel Pope (killed in the line of duty).  Among others, she is survived by her husband, Cincinnati Fire Captain Robert L. Pope, Jr.; son, Kyle Pope; and siblings, Cincinnati Sergeant Donald Robert Brown, Jr.  and Bonnie Brown.

Visitation will be held 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, in the vestibule of Guardian Angels Church, 6531 Beechmont Avenue.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati.
