Lieutenant Milton Edward Walz Jr.

Milton was born on March 9, 1933 to Milton Edward and Katherine Walz, Sr.  He attended Highlands High School and graduated in 1951.

Milton joined the Ft. Thomas Police Department during May 1957 as a probationary Patrolman.  On November 4th he was made a permanent Patrolman.  Patrolman Walz attended the Cincinnati Police Academy and graduated during March 1959.  He also married in 1959.  During July 1964, Patrolman Walz attended the first Northern Kentucky Police Chief’s Association week-long school for fingerprinting and detection.  On December 26, 1966, he was promoted to Lieutenant.  Lieutenant Walz retired in 1979 with 22 years of service to his community.

He also moved to Houston, Texas in 1979 and was living in Spring, Texas most recently.

Lieutenant Walz passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital.  He was 86.

He was predeceased by two children, Peter Walz and Holly Walz, and a brother, Robert Walz.  Lieutenant Walz is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Janet; son, Andrew (Gloria) Walz; granddaughter, Victoria; great-grandson, Andrew; and siblings, Roger (Janine) Walz and Kathy Walz.

Visitation will be held 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home at 427 South Ft. Thomas Avenue.  A funeral service will follow at noon with Rev. Mike Sweeney officiating.  Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in Southgate.
