Scott was born April 12, 1989 in Cincinnati to Scott Alan Cox, Sr. and LaRhonda Lynn (Hale) Cox of Western Hills. He graduated from Oak Hills High School in 2007.

After high school, Scott enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in combat in Afghanistan. He was honorably discharged in 2015 with a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation (with Combat Distinguishing Device) for valor, and Combat Action Ribbon.

Scott joined the Cincinnati Police Department on July 25, 2021 as a member of its 111th Recruit Class. He was promoted to Police Officer on February 6, 2022, issued Badge 69, and assigned to District 5 (5837 Hamilton Avenue). After a year, he was rotated to District 4 (4150 Reading Road). By late in September 2024, Officer Cox had served the community for three years.

Officer Scott was involved in an auto accident and after some time in an Akron, Ohio hospital, died on September 22, 2024 at the age of 35.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Earl and Barbra Cox and Edward Hale. Officer Cox is survived by his partner, Police Officer Shayla Hogan; children, Madison Cox, Emmerson Cox, and Cooper Cox; parents; grandmother, Joyce Hale; and brothers, Joe Cox and Tyler Cox; and former wife, Jackie Cox.

Visitation will be held 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Vitt, Stermer, and Anderson Funeral Home a at 4619 Delhi Pike. Fraternal Order of Police Services will be at 3:45 p.m. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 69 Hall located at 1900 Central Parkway.
