Police Officer Marty Ray McKinley
(1976-2024)

Marty was born September 2, 1975 in Covington, the second child born to Richard and Deborah West. He attended Simon Kenton High School where he participated in Track and Cross Country. He graduated in 1993.

Marty joined the Newport Police Department about 2009 as a Police Officer. By May 2024, he had served his community for 15 years.

Officer McKinley died at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center on May 7, 2024 at the age of 48.

He is survived by his children, Jacob (Hannah) McKinley, Dana McKinley, Joshua McKinley, Michelle McKinley; parents, Richard (Linda) McKinley and Deborah (McKinley); stepdaughter, Audrey Bertke; siblings, Mike (Paula) McKinley and Mollee (Donovan) Bowling; mother of his children, Denise McKinely; stepmother of his children, Alecia Reynolds, and grandchildren, Brady McKinley and Lainey McKinley.

Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home at 11382 Madison Pike in Independence. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on May 14, 2024at the Student Union Ballroom at Northern Kentucky University, 20 Kenton Drive in Highland Heights. A cortege will leave there to his internment at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Williamstown, Kentucky. Dinner will be served to family and friends immediately following at 828 Monmouth Street in Newport.
