Lieutenant A. C. “Ace” Hamilton
(1939-2024)

 

 

Ace was born November 5, 1938 in Artemus, Kentucky to Donnie Cox. Sometime after 1950, they moved to Cincinnati, and he graduated from Hughes High School.

He joined the Lockland Police Department about 1964 and attended the Cincinnati Police Academy. He was elected President of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 74 in 1968. During February 1969, he shot a man who was attempting to stab him. On December 12, 1973, he was shot during a firefight after a robbery and murder of wine merchant and former Patrolman, James O. Clark. In March 1975, he was acting as a Detective and on January 20, 1976 was commended by the Village Council for his “22 successful police actions” in the interim nine months.

 Patrolman Hamilton ran for Lockland School Board of Education in 1985, was elected, and served continuously, most of the time as Vice President, until December 21, 1991. 

Also a baseball coach, in 1986, he coached the Enterprise Federal baseball team all the way to the nation tournament in Puerto Rico. Ace also spent several years as an official for high school football and basketball.

During August 1989, by then Lieutenant Hamilton, retired with 25 years of law enforcement service. 

He continued to serve Lockland running for and being elected to the Village Council in 1991, whereupon he resigned from the school board. 

Lieutenant Hamilton has died on October 28, 2024 at the age of 85.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Andrea Lynn Hamilton (2006). He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Renell “Renie” M. (Zoellner) Hamilton; son, Marc E. (Jennifer) Hamilton; grandchildren Owen, Makayla, and Casandra Hamilton; and sisters-in-law, Cherie (Andy) Cegielski, Lynn (Gene) Schulz, Julie Luepke, and Judy (Bruce) Schade.

Visitation will be held 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, November 1, 2024, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection at 1950 Nagel Road in Anderson Township. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.

Memorials may be sent to the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection- Stained Glass Fund.
