Rose was born February 6, 1931, the second child of five born to Louis and Mary (McGarry) Ruehl. She graduated from St. Xavier Commercial High School in 1947. By then she was also involved in competitive bowling spanning four decades.
After high school, Rose began a career as a secretary at the Aetna Life Insurance Company, resigning after twelve years, in 1959, to marry and raise a family. Eighteen years later, she went back to work as a legal secretary at the Sprague and Reyering law firm.
Rose joined the City of Cincinnati during December 1978 as a Clerk Stenographer II at the Cincinnati Recreation Commission. She was promoted on October 26, 1980 to Clerk Stenographer III and assigned to the Cincinnati Police Criminal Investigation Section (222 E. Central Parkway). After a personnel study, her position was elevated to Stenographic Secretary on May 6, 1984. In her last several years, she earned outstanding performance evaluations. Stenographic Secretary Doll retired on June 1, 1998 with twenty years of service to the City.
Stenographer Doll died peacefully, surrounded by family, on June 26, 2023, at the age of 92.
She was predeceased by her husband of thirty years, Charles Joseph Doll (1988); siblings, Louis (Alma and Elsina) Ruehl, Catherin (Richard) Scharff, Esther (James) Smart, Richard Doll, and siblings in law, Thelma (Stanley) Lockwood, William (Shirley) Doll, and Elizabeth (Harry) Lee. Stenographer Doll is survived by her children, Stephen (Dianne) Doll, Diane Doll, Karen Rose (Kurt) Helmes, Michael Louis (Jill) Doll, Ronald Raymond (Sheri) Doll and Robert Richard “Bobby” Doll; grandchildren, Ryan (Rachael) Doll, Lindsay (Brad) Haarmeyer, Eric (Ellen) Harrison, Sara (Aaron) Carmack, Brian Harrison, Kurt Helmes, Jr., Alicia (Mitch) Hardin, Jenny (Steve) Kueffner, Kyle (Kristan) Helmes, Jorie (Terrell) Thompson, Courtney Doll, Morgan Doll, Gabrielle Doll, Samantha Doll, and Chloee Tucker-Doll; great-grandchildren, Prudence, Ernie, Wren, Elliott, Eloise, Camryn, Cecilia, Charlie, Max, Brooks, Gunner, Riley, Torie, Tessa, TJ, Branley and Kinslee; brother, Raymond (Sharon) Ruehl; and sister-in-law of the late Richard Doll.
Visitation will be held 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2023 at Radel Funeral Home at 650 Neeb Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. at St. Teresa Church at 1175 Overlook Avenue.

One incredible lady! I worked in Homicide of CPD and she transcribed daily logs, case notes and statements. Always smiling and a super efficient and accurate worker! Loved her!
