Dispatcher Martha Patricia “Pat” Lee D-60 (1948-2023)


Pat was born October 14, 1948, the oldest daughter of ten children born to Clarence and Martha Louise (McDaniel) Powell. She attended Central High School until 1965. During the early 1980s, she also attended Xavier University majoring in Psychology. 

After high school, at 18 years old, Pat began working at the Cincinnati Police Division in the Master Name / Reporting Unit from August 1967 until October 1969.

During December 1970, she took a position with the Internal Revenue Service. 

Pat returned to the Police Division and the Reporting Unit on May 7, 1972 as a Clerk Typist I. She left again in June 1973 to tend to her children. 

She returned to work as a Junior Typist at the Cincinnati Public Schools on November 27, 1974.  

 Pat returned to the Police Division as a Clerk Typist I in the Records Section on May 13, 1979. Three months later, she was promoted to Clerk Typist II. On May 3, 1981, she transferred to the Central Warrant Processing Section. Clerk Typist Lee then transferred to the Department of Finance four years later. Four months after that, on September 22, 1985, she was promoted to Assistant Operator Dispatcher and assigned to the Police Communications Section. Two years later, she was promoted to Operator Dispatcher. Dispatcher Lee retired on September 8, 2008 with a career that spanned four decades and having earned five letters of appreciation and or commendation.

Dispatcher Lee battled through four bouts of cancer. She died on April 23, 2023 at the age of 74.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Adrian Powell, Clarence Powell, Jr., and Andrew Powell. Dispatcher Lee is survived by her children, Angela Edwards, Celeste Lee, Michael Lee, and Todd Lee; grandchildren, Kourney Swecker, Tomas De La Rosa, and Nicholas De La Rosa; great-grandchildren, Aurora Swecker, Anastasia Swecker, and T.J. De La Rosa; and siblings, James Powell, Denise Phillips, Theresa Bivens, Steven Powell, and Sabrina Calloway.

Visitation and funeral services were held on April 24, 2023. She was buried at Arlington Memorial Gardens.
