Detective Robert Louis “Bob” Gatto
(1944-2023

Bob was born May 21, 1944 to Richard J. and Elsa F. Gatto.

Bob joined the United States Air Force. While serving in Germany, On December 3, 1966, while home on leave in order to get married, PFC Gatto saw a purse snatching and chased the perpetrator. He lost him but recovered the purse for the victim.

Bob joined the Norwood Police Department as a Police Officer. He completed his training at the Norwood Police Academy in October 1968. By 1980, he was a Detective. Detective Gatto retired in 1993 with 29 years of service to his country and community.

Detective Gatto died on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at the age of 79.

Detective Gatto is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elaine Kathryn (Imm) Gatto; children, Anthony Robert Gatto and Jennifer Maria Geisz; grandchildren, Courtney, Anthony, Shelby, Corey, Anna, Tyler, Jackson, Trey, and Alex Gatto; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Parker, Serenity, Greyson, Kane, and Kolin.

Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Holy Trinity Church, 2420 Drex Avenue, in Norwood. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Right to Life of Greater Cincinnati.
