John was born December 13, 1968 to Cincinnati Police Patrolman William W. Temple and Halina (Baczyk) Temple. He graduated from Oak Hills High School in 1987.
During and after high school, John had several jobs, sometimes simultaneously, on the western side of town. Beginning in August 1989, he worked for Burns Security.
John joined the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office as a Corrections Officer, taking his oath of office on May 24, 1990. On June 29, 1990, he completed Basic Corrections Officer Training. Toward the end of his career, he was diagnosed with a medical issue that eventually caused him to retire on April 1, 2020, with almost thirty years of service.
Deputy Temple died on March 18, 2023 at the age of 54.
He was predeceased by his father, Cincinnati Patrolman William W. Temple, and brothers, Cincinnati Police Specialist Michael W. Temple and Rhode Island Canine Officer William L. Temple. Deputy Temple is survived by his mother, Halina Temple-Anderson; son, Shane Temple; and sister, Hamilton County Court Data Entry Operator 2 Tonya Temple.
Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 27, 2023 at the Newcomer Funeral Home, West Side Chapel at 3300 Parkcrest Lane. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. Burial will follow in St. Joseph (New) Cemetery.
