Kevin was born April 28, 1978 to Kevin Neal and Helen Ora Cook, Sr. He attended Elder High School and graduated in 1997. He also earned an associate degree at Brown Mackie College, majoring in Criminal Justice. And he attended the University of Cincinnati for three years and was a member of the Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity.
After working several dead-end jobs, looking for future stability, Kevin joined the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. He intended a path toward Corrections Officer starting as a Laundry Worker in the Corrections Division on June 6, 2002. A year later, he was appointed as a Clerk II and, in 2015, was sworn in as a Deputy Sheriff. With the rank of Clerk II, he eventually was assigned as a Commissary Officer.
By then he was diagnosed with a lifelong medical condition that would eventually lead to his death. On November 24, 2021, unable to continue in his employment, Officer Cook left the Office after 19 years of service.
Officer Cook died on July 14, 2023 at the age of 45.
He was predeceased by his father, Kevin N. Cook, Sr. Officer Cook is survived by his mother, Helen Cook-Korte; stepfather, Michael Korte; sister, Marissa Sabin; and friend, Amy Bauer.
Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Meyer Funeral Home at 5864 Bridgetown Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 21, 2023 at St. Teresa of Avila Church at Glenway and Overlook Avenues.
