Specialist Timothy J. Shannon PS-195 (1945-2022)

Tim was born May 10, 1945, the fourth child born to Daniel and Lenora (Krollmann) Shannon of Westwood. He attended St. Catharine Grade School; St. Xavier High School where he participated in the band, football, and baseball; and Xavier University, majoring in Business Administration, and graduating in 1970.

While attending high school, Tim worked as a stockman at U.S. Shoe Company in 1963 and 1964 and at D&D Bean Company as an Inventory Controller. After high school, he went to work as a clerk at the Top Value Stamp Store in Westwood.

Tim joined the Cincinnati Police Division as a Police Recruit on March 12, 1967. He was promoted to Patrolman on June 4, 1967, issued Badge 614, and assigned to District 3 (3201 Warsaw Avenue). He was successful in the first promotional examination he took and promoted to Police Specialist on November 22, 1970, issued Badge PS-195, and assigned to the Criminal Investigation Section (222 East Central Parkway). Seven months later, he was transferred to the Tactical Unit. On November 5, 1972 he transferred back to the Criminal Investigation Unit in the Homicide Squad. On June 8, 1973, the Division created an auto theft unit that including ten detectives, including Specialist Shannon. He returned to the Homicide Squad by 1975. Specialist Shannon transferred to the District 3 Investigative Unit on December 5, 1976. The Division created a federally funded Major Offender Project at Criminal Investigation Section and again included Specialist Shannon. By 1979 he was in the Fraud squad. Specialist Shannon retired on December 12, 1993 with 26½ years of service and 36 letters of appreciation and/or commendation.

He then took a position as a member of the Securities and Fraud Team at Provident Bank until 1993.

Specialist Shannon died overnight on September 29, 2022 at the age of 77.

He was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Daniel Shannon, Mary Jean Luckey, and Kathleen Menke. Specialist Shannon is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marianne (Sauer) Shannon; children, Colleen (John) Warroth, Michael (Jeanne) Shannon, Molly (Mike) Cramerding; grandchildren, Jacob Walroth, Nathan Walroth, and Maggie Walroth, Conner Shannon, Trevor Shannon, Andrew Cramerding, and Lauren Cramerding.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 3, 2022 at St. Martin Church on Glenmore Avenue in Cheviot. A celebration of life will follow from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Eagle Lake Club House at 5150 Shore View Drive in Taylor’s Creek.
