Marty was born April 10, 1972 in Jefferson County, Kentucky to Raymond Eliot and Shirley Maria (Maxfield) Strong. He attended Lakota West High School and participated in Gymnastics. He graduated on the Honor Roll in 1990.
Marty married Jennifer M. (Laine) on May 29, 1999.
In 2004, Marty joined the Forest Park Police Department as a Police Officer. During his career, he served as a patrol officer, motorcycle officer, bike officer, field training officer, property room technician, and officer in charge. By 2022, he had served 18 years and received many commendations and accolades, including in 2012 the C.I.T. Award from the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
During July 2021, Officer Strong was diagnosed with Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer. He went through an intensive treatment of surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center. It was not enough. He died peacefully, surround by family at home on June 14, 2022 at age 50.
He was predeceased by his father, Raymond Strong, and grandmother, Norma Maxfield. Officer Strong is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jennifer M. (Laine) Strong; sons, Michael Raymond Strong and Brandon Martin Strong; mother, Shirley Strong; parents-in-law, Michael and Peggy Laine; brother, Brian Strong; and siblings-in-law, Stephen (Chandra) Laine, Theresa (Doug) Quallen, Sharon (Nathan) Stierwalt, and Jerad (Alicia) Laine.
Visitation will be held 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Mueller Funeral Home at 6791 Tylersville Road in Mason. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2022 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church at 330 Lebanon Street in Monroe.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Martin’s name to The Matt Haverkamp Foundation.
