Park Police Officer Raymond Wainwright Bracy, Jr. PP-103 (1935-2021)

Ray was born August 7, 1935 in Sumpter, South Carolina, the 2nd of 7 children born to Raymond W. Bracy, Sr. and Rivanna Mildred (Stroman) Bracy.

Ray joined the United States Navy and took his basic training at the Naval Center in Great Lakes, Illinois in August 1955.  He was honorably discharged.

Ray joined City service with the Metropolitan Sewer District in 1960.

Five years later, Ray joined the Cincinnati Park Police Department on April 6, 1965.  After completing Recruit School with the Cincinnati Police Division’s 45th Recruit Class, he was promoted to Park Patrolman on December 20, 1965.  He retired on April 1, 1987 with 27 years of service to the City, 22 of which was with the Park Police.

Park Police Officer Bracy died on November 24, at the age of 86.

He is predeceased by sisters Mildred R. Butler and Rivanna W. Cornett.  Park Police Officer Bracy is survived by his wife of 63  years, Barbara Jane (Elliot) Bracy; children, Cezanne Bracy and Raymond W. (Denise) Bracy, III., and siblings, Anna L. Bracy and Cynthia R. Johnson.

A visitation, FOP service, and funeral service were held at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 544 Rockdale Avenue on December 17, 2021, which would have been his and Mrs. Bracy’s 64th wedding anniversary.

  1. Mr. Bracy was married for 63 years. The day of his funeral, December 17, 2021, was his 64th wedding anniversary.
