Police Officer Earl Douglas Breeden (1950-2024)

 

Earl was born July 1, 1950 in Owen County, Kentucky to Benny Earl and Addie Mae (Hammond) Breeden. Earl attended Owen County High School, graduating in 1969. He also attended Murray State University.

Earl joined the Boone County Police Department and served as a Police Officer in the mid-1970s.

He then joined the Kentucky Department of Justice in juvenile rehabilitation. He was commissioned by the Commonwealth of Kentucky in 1983 as a Kentucky Colonel for his contributions to the community and state. By 1985, he was an Administrative Specialist Senior at the Cabinet for Human Resources Rice-Audubon Treatment Center in Jefferson County.

Deputy Breeden died on November 25, 2024 at the age of 74.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Rocky Wayne Breeden and Donna Jean Breeden. Officer Breeden is by his wife of 33 years, Mary R. (Pence) Breeden; children, Lisa Kern, Jodie (Eddie) Couch, Kim Martinez, Dustin (Vanessa) Pence, Tyler (Randal) Pence, and Corey Pence; grandchildren, Sydnie, Addison, Elle, Cole, Anthony, Drama, Kaity, Emma, Sadie, Bella, Reagan, Payne, and Nolan; and great-grandchildren, Kaylie Rebecca, Poppy, Fable, and Aubrie and Hazel due in March 2025.

Visitation and funeral services were held on December 3, 2024 at Stoess Funeral Home in Crestwood. The Greater Cincinnati Police Historical Society was made aware of his passing after his funeral.
