Bill was born June 19, 1978 in Hamilton to William R. and Carla Yvonne (Tuttle) Bowling. He attended Hamilton High School, graduating in 1996.
After high school, Billy joined the United States Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged in 1999.
Bill joined the Butler County Sheriff’s Office on November 5, 2001 and was assigned as a Corrections Officer in the Main Jail. Officer Bowling was issued a Special Deputy commission on April 3, 2002. Then, on April 15, 2006, he was promoted to Correction Sergeant. Sergeant Bowling was promoted to Deputy Sheriff on May 20, 2008 and assigned to the Road Patrol. Due to finances by the County Administration, he and other deputies and corrections officers were laid off on April 7 2010.
Almost a year later, on January 25, 2012, Deputy Bowling was recalled from layoff. Since then, he has received Life-Saving awards twice. During 2019, Billy underwent a liver transplant, and worked through it. In 2022, he was diagnosed with leukemia. By May 2023, he had served his country and community for more than a quarter century.
Deputy Bowling died on May 23, 2023 at the age of 44.
He was predeceased by his mother, Carla McCune, and siblings-in-law, Donna and John McDonald. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Erin McDaniel; children, McKenzie Bowling and William Bowling III; father, Ray (Diane) Bowling; brothers, Kelly Bowling and Nicholas (Azia) McCune; and siblings-in-law, Angie Ingram, Michel (Craig) Dixon, and Wade (Amy) Dingman.
Visitation will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue in Hamilton. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
